Arrival & Getting Here
How far is Waterfront House from Dublin, and is it easy to find?
The drive from Dublin usually takes around 3 hours, give or take 30 minutes depending on traffic and your time of travel. The easiest way to find us is to use Google Maps and enter our Eircode, H91 PW89, as your destination.
What time can we check in?
Check-in is from 4:00 PM (16:00). Your room will not be ready before this time, as we need time to prepare everything properly for your arrival.
What if we're running late?
Please call us on +353 91 552 797 as soon as you know you're going to be late. We'll need a rough estimate of your arrival time so that we know when to expect you.
Will someone be there to greet us?
Yes, whenever possible. Waterfront House is a family home rather than a hotel, so on rare occasions we may be out at the shop or attending an appointment when you arrive.
Do we need a car?
We strongly recommend having a car. Bus services are available, but they are limited, and many of the walks, beaches, attractions and restaurants you'll want to visit around Connemara are not within walking distance of the house.
Is there parking?
Yes. We have ample free parking at the front of the house.
When is check-out?
Check-out is by 10:30 AM, as we need time to prepare the rooms for our next arrivals.
Rooms & Facilities
Are your rooms wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately, no. Waterfront House is a split-level house. From the entrance hall there are 6 steps down to the lower level and 8 steps up to the upper level. Outside, our timber deck is level with the entrance hall, but there are also 3 steps from the driveway up to the deck.
Are the bathrooms private?
Yes. All our guest rooms have private en-suite bathrooms.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house and on the deck at the front of the house.
Are there tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms?
Tea and coffee facilities are available in our dining room throughout the day rather than in the individual bedrooms.
Do you allow dogs or other pets?
No. We don't have facilities for dogs and don't allow pets inside the house.
Breakfast & Dining
What time is breakfast served?
We have two breakfast sittings each morning: the first at 8:00 AM and the second at 9:00 AM.
What's on the breakfast menu?
We serve a cooked Irish breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausages and grilled tomatoes, as well as a vegetarian option. We also offer cereals, fruit, juices, toast, homemade soda bread and jams, with tea and coffee.
Can you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes. Please let us know about any dietary requirements when you book so that we can prepare properly before your arrival.
Do we need to book restaurants in Oughterard?
We recommend booking ahead, particularly during busy periods. Have a look at our Places to Eat in Oughterard page for some of our local recommendations.

Can you help us plan our days in Connemara?
Absolutely. We're always happy to share our local knowledge and help you plan your days. Do you accept card payments?
Yes, we accept card payments.
Is there a minimum stay?
Yes. We have a two-night minimum stay throughout the year. If you'd like to book directly with us, please contact us before making another booking and ask about our direct rates.
